"Every step hurts," said Borussia Dortmund and Poland's Łukasz Piszczek after being laid off for six weeks with a torn ligament in his left ankle suffered against Juventus.

Borussia Dortmund and Poland midfielder Łukasz Piszczek has been ruled out for six weeks with a ligament tear in his left ankle.

Piszczek, who limped off on the half-hour during Dortmund's 2-1 defeat at Juventus in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg on Tuesday, has torn his anterior syndesmosis. The 29-year-old will therefore be unavailable for Saturday's Revierderby at home to FC Schalke 04 as well as for the 18 March second leg against Juventus and Poland's UEFA EURO 2016 qualifier against the Republic of Ireland on 29 March. "Every step hurts," said Piszczek, also a right-back.

Defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos, who also sustained an injury against Juve and had to be substituted at half-time, will only need a few days rest due to an adductor strain. Kevin Kampl and Neven Subotić, both absent against the Italian champions through illness, are expected to recover in the next few days.
