Rest the cure
The 35-year-old has been struggling with the problem for several weeks, and tests carried out at the weekend revealed swelling to the inside of Fran's left knee. The midfielder has been prescribed a short period of rest and a course of anti-flammatory tablets. However, he could require keyhole surgery and a month on the sidelines if the injury persists. Deportivo are in Group A alongside Olympiacos, Liverpool FC and AS Monaco FC.
