Both Juventus and FC Barcelona received their league trophies on Saturday, but had mixed fortunes on the pitch two weeks before the UEFA Champions League final in Berlin.

Juventus 3-1 SSC Napoli
The pressure was off Juve in their penultimate Serie A game, and before kick-off they paraded the Coppa Italia they had won in midweek to complete the domestic double. Roberto Pereyra put them ahead early on but Napoli needed a result for their UEFA Champions League qualifying push and equalised on 50 minutes. Gianluigi Buffon had saved a Kwadwo Asamoa penalty after a Lorenzo Insigne handball but David López struck on the rebound.

However, with 13 minutes to go Stefano Sturaro produced a superb individual goal to restore Juventus' lead. Napoli then had Miguel Britos sent off for a foul on Álvaro Morata, which resulted in a penalty converted by Simone Pepe.

There was still the small matter of lifting the Serie A trophy, with Juve away at Hellas Verona FC next Sunday. After that moment, Buffon said: "We'll now enjoy these deserved three days off after a stressful period. Then we'll start the countdown for our most important game in the last 12 years [against Barcelona]. Tonight, though, we'll celebrate – we want to share these achievements together."

It seemed to be business as usual for the champions on the last day of the Liga as Lionel Messi headed in on five minutes and then got his 43rd league goal of the season just before the hour. But Depor fought back through Lucas and Diogo Salomão for a draw and the point they needed to stay up.

Still, for Barcelona there was the honour of lifting the Liga trophy, the first leg of what they hope will become a treble after they host Athletic Club in next Saturday's Copa del Rey final and then face Juve seven days later. Pride of place in the celebrations went to Xavi Hernández, who made his 505th and final Liga appearance for Barcelona.

Xavi took to the microphone to address the Camp Nou crowd, saying: "Thanks for everything, from the heart. You've made me the happiest man in the world today and for the past 17 years. You have no idea how proud I am to be a Barça player. We want the Copa and the Champions League."
