Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 Guingamp 
Javier Pastore's superb 18th-minute finish was added to by Ángel Di María and Zlatan Ibrahimović late on to give Paris victory and move them four points clear – until Wednesday night, at least. Ibrahimović is now only two goals behind Pauleta's record of 109 for Paris.

PSV Eindhoven 3-2 Cambuur (Dutch Cup round of 64)
PSV saw a two-goal lead disappear before Luuk de Jong's penalty with 12 minutes left ensured a winning start to their bid for a tenth Dutch Cup. Strugglers Cambuur trailed to Jürgen Locadia's early effort and Kai Heering's own goal at half-time, but Bartholomew Ogbeche struck twice, the second a penalty, to restore parity. De Jong earned victory against a side PSV had beaten 6-0 away in the Eredivisie only ten days ago.

Bayern München 5-1 Wolfsburg
It was all going so well for Wolfsburg when they led at half-time through Daniel Caligiri. But Robert Lewandowski came on at half-time and scored five goals between the 51st and 60th minute to end Wolfsburg's unbeaten start and leave them seven points behind Bayern in third.

Atlético Madrid 2-0 Getafe
A week after his two-goal heroics in the win at Galatasaray, Antoine Griezmann has done it again for Atlético, scoring on four and 90 minutes for a 2-0 defeat of Getafe that moves them level with Liga leaders Barcelona, who play on Wednesday along with Real Madrid and Sevilla.

Sunderland 1-4 Manchester City (English League Cup round of 32)
City recovered from successive 2-1 home losses to Juventus and West Ham by starting their League Cup bid with four goals in 36 minutes at struggling Sunderland. Sergio Agüero got things going with a ninth-minute penalty, Kevin De Bruyne scored for the second successive game and after Vito Mannone's own goal, Raheem Sterling for his second for his new club. Sunderland pulled one back late on.

Bayern München 5-1 Wolfsburg
Bayern's perfect start has stretched to six games after that incredible display by Lewandowski, who scored the fastest-ever Bundesliga hat-trick between the 51st and 55th minute and only just finished short of the league's single-game record of six. The record books were re-written and Germany stood up to applaud.

Oštrc Zlatar 1-7 Dinamo Zagreb (Croatian Cup round of 32)
Holders Dinamo Zagreb were level 1-1 at half-time away to sixth-tier Oštrc but then streaked away with Endri Çekiçi scoring twice.

Xanthi 1-3 Olympiacos
Olympiacos remain perfect in Greece after four games. Jimmy Durmaz gave them a half-time lead and although Nikolay Dimitrov equalised in the 50th minute, Kostas Fortounis equalised from the spot then claimed a clincher soon after.

Espanyol 1-0 Valencia
Valencia suffered their first defeat of the Liga season as Víctor Álvarez got the only goal 18 minutes in for Espanyol. Valencia are eighth but could be down to the bottom half when all the midweek games are played.
