Champions League: Who could go through or exit?

Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Juventus, Manchester City, Barcelona, Zenit and Valencia could go through on matchday four while seven others could fall: UEFA.com explains.

We are only at the halfway point of the UEFA Champions League group stage but after the next set of games on 3 and 4 November, several of the 32 teams could already know their fate.

While holders Barcelona and the sole remaining perfect side Zenit are among those that could seal round of 16 slots following matchday four, Shakhtar Donetsk and Sevilla feature in the list of teams who would be unable to finish above third if results do not go their way. UEFA.com explains.

Tuesday 3 November

  • All kick-offs 20.45CET except Astana v Atlético at 16.00CET.

Group A: Real Madrid (7pts) v Paris Saint-Germain (7), Shakhtar Donetsk (0) v Malmö (3)

  • If either Paris or Madrid win, they are through should Malmö lose.
  • If Shakhtar lose or if both Group A games are drawn, Shakhtar cannot finish in the top two.

Group B: Manchester United (4) v CSKA Moskva (4), PSV Eindhoven (3) v Wolfsburg (6)

  • No club can clinch or be ruled out of a top-two finish.

Group C: Astana (2) 0-0 Atlético Madrid (7), Benfica (6) v Galatasaray (4)

  • No club can clinch or be ruled out of a top-two finish after Astana's draw earlier on Tuesday.

Group D: Borussia Mönchengladbach (1) v Juventus (7), Sevilla (3) v Manchester City (6)

  • If Juventus and City win, both are through and Sevilla will compete with Mönchengladbach for third place.
  • If City win and the other game is drawn, City are through.

Wednesday 4 November

  • All kick-offs 20.45CET.

Group E: Barcelona (7) v BATE Borisov (3), Roma (2) v Bayer Leverkusen (4)

  • If Barcelona win and Roma do not win, Barcelona are through.

Group F: Bayern München (6) v Arsenal (3), Olympiacos (6) v Dinamo Zagreb (3)

  • No club can clinch or be ruled out of a top-two finish.

Group G: Chelsea (4) v Dynamo Kyiv (5), Maccabi Tel-Aviv (0) v Porto (7)

  • If Maccabi lose and the other game is not a draw, Maccabi cannot finish in the top two.
  • Should Maccabi draw and Dynamo win, Maccabi cannot finish in the top two.

Group H: Lyon (1) v Zenit (9), Gent (1) v Valencia (6)

  • Should Zenit win they are through.
  • If Zenit draw and Gent do not win, Zenit are through.
  • If Valencia win and Lyon do not, Valencia are through and Lyon cannot finish in the top two.
  • Should Gent lose they cannot finish in the top two.
