Liverpool 3-3 Arsenal (Firmino 10 19, Allen 90; Ramsey 14, Giroud 25 55)
Joe Allen denied Arsenal three points at the death, with the Gunners ending the night level on 43 points with Leicester at the top of the English table. Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud both levelled after Roberto Firmino twice put the Reds ahead in the first period, but a sweet second finish from Giroud looked to have earned his side a thrilling victory.

Chelsea 2-2 West Bromwich Albion (Azpilicueta 20, McAuley 73og; Gardner 33, McClean 86)
Chelsea are unbeaten in six games since the departure of José Mourinho in December, but will take little solace after a late James McLean goal denied them three points, Gareth McAuley having put into his own net following a fine Willian cross to put the Blues 2-1 up. César Azpilicueta bundled away their opener in the first half, but some shaky defending preceded Craig Gardner equalising from distance.

Manchester City 0-0 Everton
City missed their chance to raise the pressure on Arsenal, picking up their fourth league draw of the season – all of them 0-0s. Tim Howard kept out a Yaya Touré header in the first half and produced two fine saves to deny Sergio Agüero after the break, but Everton were good value for their point, Leon Osman going close before the interval.

Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 Olympique Lyonnais (Rabiot 17, Moura 73; Tolisso 42)
Paris moved a step closer to a third successive French League Cup success with a quarter-final victory against Lyon. Adrien Rabiot pounced on a rebound to put them in front, but Paris were pegged back before half-time. Lucas Moura then capped a sharp counterattack with a splendid finish to propel his side into the last four, where they host Toulouse on 26 or 27 January.

Espanyol 0-2 Barcelona (agg: 1-6) (El Haddadi 32 88)
Barcelona are through to the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey, Munir El Haddadi striking twice in a 2-0 win which completed a 6-1 aggregate success for the holders against neighbours Espanyol. Lionel Messi's ball sent the 20-year-old through for his first of the night, while Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal had a hand in his second on 88 minutes. Luis Enrique's side are unbeaten in 21 games in all competitions and play over the next two midweeks in the last eight.

Portimonense 0-2 Wolfsburg (Jung 55, Draxler 80)
In a friendly on their winter training camp in Lagos, Portugal on Wednesday Wolfsburg won against promotion-chasing second-tier club Portimonense. The day had started badly for Wolfsburg with the announcement that striker Bas Dost has been ruled out for six weeks with a broken metatarsal, and is set to miss the first leg at Gent on 17 Februaryl. However, Robin Knoche set up Sebastian Jung for the opening goal early in the second half and Julian Draxler turned in a Vieirinha pass to make it two.

Atlético Madrid 3-0 Rayo Vallecano (agg: 4-1) (Correa 40, Griezmann 80 90)
A double from Antoine Griezmann, his first a close-range overhead kick, eased the Liga leaders into the Copa del Rey quarter-finals, the draw for which takes place at 12.00CET on Friday. Ángel Correa's opener was his second goal against Rayo inside a month, having struck in the Rojiblancos's 2-0 Liga victory over their Madrid neighbours on 30 December.
