Highlights: See how Wolfsburg stunned Real Madrid

Goalkeeper: Diego Benaglio (Wolfsburg)
Enjoyed a quiet game with Wolfsburg's forwards dominant throughout the 2-0 win against Real Madrid but his timely save to deny Cristiano Ronaldo may prove crucial.

Defender: Lucas Hernández (Atlético Madrid)
Showed superb anticipation and athleticism up against Barcelona's attacking triumvirate and made several crucial challenges that helped keep ten-man Atlético in the tie.

Highlights: Watch Suárez's Barcelona double

Defender: Dante (Wolfsburg)
A disciplined performance from Dante, who got his body in the way of everything Madrid threw at his side.

Defender: Ricardo Rodriguez (Wolfsburg)
One of the reasons Wolfsburg were so dominant down the left, he also stepped up to score the opening goal from the penalty spot.

Defender: Juan Bernat (Bayern München)
His energy was one of the reasons Benfica spent so much time inside their own half in Bayern's 1-0 win. He linked up neatly with the returning Franck Ribéry on the left and supplied a perfect cross for Arturo Vidal's goal.

Highlights: Paris 2-2 Man. City

Midfielder: Thiago Motta (Paris Saint-Germain)
Acting as a shield to the Paris defence and the fulcrum in their passing approach, the midfielder ensured City's playmakers had little joy despite his team being held to a 2-2 draw.

Midfielder: Fernandinho (Manchester City)
Fulfilled his box-to-box role superbly, breaking up Paris attacks before launching himself forward to score City's equaliser having already claimed an assist for Kevin De Bruyne's opening goal.

MD9 Arturo Vidal (Bayern)

Midfielder: Arturo Vidal (Bayern München)
With Bayern's forwards marked tightly throughout, Vidal's late runs into the penalty area made the difference, most notably via his early header.

Forward: Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)
With just 57 minutes of football under his belt after a two-month injury lay-off, the Belgian international was full of running and capped that with a driving run into the box before a trademark finish for the tie's opening goal.

MD9 Luis Suárez (Barcelona)

Forward: Luis Suárez (Barcelona)
A pair of predatory strikes in the 2-1 comeback win took his tally to eight competition goals in as many games and he was a danger to Atlético's defence throughout as he sought openings to penetrate their backs-to-the-wall resistance.

Forward: Maximilian Arnold (Wolfsburg)
A constant threat in behind a weary Madrid defence, Arnold's positioning and clever runs created space for his team-mates on several occasions. He also finished Wolfsburg's wonderfully-worked second goal.
