Jensen still stalled by injury

Werder Bremen and Denmark midfielder Daniel Jensen faces more time on the sidelines with an achilles injury.

Injury recurred
The 25-year-old has been struggling with the problem since joining Bremen in July and has yet to play for the German champions. Jensen suffered a recurrence of the injury at UEFA EURO 2004™, a tournament at which he impressed during three group-stage appearances.

Coach's ultimatum
He had been included in Morten Olsen's Denmark squad for the forthcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Turkey on the proviso he played in Bremen's Bundesliga match this weekend against FC Bayern München. However, both coach and player appear to have accepted that he will be unavailable for the immediate future.

'Turbulent time'
"Daniel has had a turbulent start at his new club with the injury, but he will only be in contention for the national team when he is match fit," Olsen said. "He is not that at the moment, and he and I may as well realise it."

Future clouded
Jensen is believed to have been in constant pain since signing for Bremen from Spanish side Real Murcia CF on a four-year contract. There are doubts over when he will be able to play again, though surgery is not thought to be an option at present.
