Real Madrid's new club record: 35 games unbeaten

By defeating Deportivo La Coruña 3-2, Real Madrid have set a new club record of 35 matches without defeat, going back to April; UEFA.com picks out some of the run's highlights.

Real Madrid's 3-2 victory over Deportivo La Coruña on Saturday has set a new club record of 35 games unbeaten.

The run dates back to April's 2-0 reverse at Wolfsburg in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg and, in avoiding defeat since then, Zinédine Zidane's men have usurped the Merengues' 1988/89 vintage, who held the record of 34 matches.

UEFA.com picks out the highlights from the history-makers' undefeated streak.

A Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick wrote a new chapter in the club's book of European comebacks – or 'remontadas'. The Portuguese struck twice in the first period and then won the tie with a late free-kick to clinch a semi-final berth.

Madrid broke the hearts of neighbours Atlético for a third straight season in the UEFA Champions League. Sergio Ramos's opener was cancelled out by Yannick Carrasco and the game went to penalties. A perfect set of five from Madrid, Ronaldo converting the winner, secured an 11th European Cup.

First-half strikes by Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema appeared to have teed up a routine Group F victory, only forthe Polish champions to produce a stirring comeback and lead 3-2 with five minutes to go. Mateo Kovačić promptly equalised to spare the visitors' blushes and extend the unbeaten sequence to 27 games.

Thanks to Luis Suárez's second-half goal, the Catalan giants were on the verge of ending Madrid's run last weekend. Once again, though, Ramos came to the rescue as the clock ticked into injury time, rising highest to nod in Luka Modrić's free-kick and snatch a valuable point.

Madrid's fans were put through the wringer on a dramatic night at the Santiago Bernabéu. Trailing 2-1 with six minutes remaining, the Whites – minus the rested Ronaldo, Modrić and Benzema – equalised through Mariano Díaz's maiden Liga goal. Ramos won it with yet another late, late header.
