Barça's problems pile up

FC Barcelona will be without French international midfield player Ludovic Giuly for two weeks with a thigh strain.

Doubt for Milan match
Giuly returned to Spain after the thigh strain he suffered against CD Numancia last weekend ruled him out of France's FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Republic of Ireland on Saturday. He is expected to be out for two weeks, making him a serious doubt for the Catalan club's UEFA Champions League meeting with AC Milan on 20 October.

Stomach complaint
Cameroon forward Eto'o, meanwhile, has a stomach complaint and will miss his country's World Cup qualifier against Sudan. Another player causing the Barcelona medical staff some concern is left-back Juliano Belletti, who has not been training as a precautionary measure due to an inflamed tendon in his right leg. The club's injured list already included Thiago Motta, Sylvinho, Edmílson, Albert Jorquera and Gabri García.
