Copa del Rey holders Barcelona will take a lead into Tuesday's semi-final second leg at Camp Nou. Both Barcelona goals were spectacular, Luis Suárez's run starting at halfway before a fine finish then Lionel Messi's thunderbolt from outside the box. Antoine Griezmann's header gave Atleti hope of reaching the 27 May final against Alavés or Celta Vigo.

West Ham United 0-4 Manchester City (De Bruyne 17, Silva 21, Gabriel Jesus 39, Touré 67p)
City returned to the scene of their 5-0 FA Cup third-round win at West Ham last month to move level on points with fourth-placed Liverpool and just one behind Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in the Premier League. Gabriel Jesus marked his first league start for City with a maiden club goal as well as an assist.

Paris take their bid for a third straight French Cup – and hat-trick of consecutive domestic trebles – into the last 16 after seeing off their top-flight rivals, who they have already beaten 1-0 and 4-0 in Ligue 1. Julian Draxler made it four goals in five appearances since joining Paris last month and also played a part in Lucas Moura's strike.

Monaco needed extra time to edge past their third-tier hosts into the French Cup last 16 despite having led 3-0 early in the second half. Leonardo Jardim rested key players including Radamel Falcao while giving debuts to Pierre-Daniel Nguinda and, from the bench, Irvin Cardona, both of who helped Monaco through to next Wednesday's UEFA Youth League play-off at Roma. With Monaco clinging on, Andrea Raggi's 89th-minute red card was followed by an added-time equaliser. Kévin N'Doram's first senior Monaco goal and a further strike by Kamil Glik was ultimately decisive.

Arsenal 1-2 Watford (Iwobi 58; Kaboul 10, Deeney 13)
Arsenal suffered their first defeat of 2017 as they fell nine points behind leaders Chelsea, who were held by Liverpool. Alex Iwobi pulled one back after half-time, the Gunners rallying a little after being booed off at the break following a dire start. Former Tottenham man Younès Kaboul opened the scoring, and Troy Deeney hit the Hornets' second before Aaron Ramsey came off injured. Arsenal's loss ended a run of ten unbeaten at home in the league.

Burnley 1-0 Leicester City (Vokes 87)
Sam Vokes volleyed in a late winner as last season's second-tier title winners overcame the Premier League champions. Demarai Gray and Riyad Mahrez had the best of Leicester's chances on a soggy surface in Lancashire, with the Foxes having won just one of their six competitive games this Januay. In 16th, they are only two points off the relegation zone.
