Danny Welbeck's first Premier League goal of the season briefly offered a route back into the game for Arsenal, but the Gunners ultimately suffered a fourth defeat in their last six fixtures in all competitions.

Javi Martínez scored his first goal since November 2015 as Bundesliga leaders Bayern extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 16 games.

Roma 1-2 Napoli (Strootman 89; Mertens 26 50)
Dries Mertens scored twice – his first goals in exactly a month – to take his Serie A tally to 18 for the season. Napoli had lost three of their previous four games in all competitions.

Karim Benzema had found the net just once in his last ten appearances prior to his early double in Eibar. Zinédine Zidane's men have now scored in 46 successive fixtures in all competitions.

Barcelona 5-0 Celta (Messi 24 64, Neymar 40, Rakitić 57, Umtiti 61)
Barcelona remain a point ahead at the top of the Liga standings after racking up a 12th win in their last 15 games in all competitions. Lionel Messi now has 23 league goals in as many appearances this term.

Paris 1-0 Nancy (Cavani 80pen)
Paris are 16 games undefeated in all competitions, winning 14, thanks to Edinson Cavani's 37th goal in 36 club appearances this term. He is now just one shy of his career-best total for a season, set with Napoli in 2012/13.

• BORUSSIA DORTMUND (0-1) BENFICA
Dortmund 6-2 Leverkusen (Dembélé 6, Aubameyang 26 69, Pulišić 77, Schürrle 85, Raphaël Guerreiro 90+2; Volland 48, Wendell 74)
Dortmund made it three Bundesliga wins in a row since their first-leg loss in Lisbon, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's double taking him to 21 top-flight goals this term.

Feirense 0-1 Benfica (Pizzi 42)
Benfica maintained their place at the head of the Portuguese Liga standings with a seventh straight win in all competitions. Pizzi had not found the net since January.

• JUVENTUS (2-0) PORTO
Udinese 1-1 Juventus (Zapata 37; Bonucci 60)
The Italian champions went eight points clear at the summit despite being held by Udinese. Juve's ten-game winning streak in all competitions ended in Udine, but Leonardo Bonucci's header allowed the Bianconeri to increase their lead following Napoli's victory at second-placed Roma.

Porto 7-0 Nacional (Óliver Torres 31, Brahimi 45, André Silva 51 89, Soares 55 71, Layún 63)
This was Porto's biggest league win since January 1999, and their biggest in any competition in more than five years. Francisco Soares has plundered eight goals in his last seven appearances.

• LEICESTER CITY (1-2) SEVILLA
Leicester 3-1 Hull (Fuchs 27, Mahrez 59, Huddlestone og 90; Clucas 14)
The Premier League champions racked up their second successive victory since Claudio Ranieri's departure – having won just two of their previous 11 games – and are now five points clear of the relegation zone.

Alavés 1-1 Sevilla (Katai 75; Ben Yedder 23)
Wissam Ben Yedder ended a run of nine games without a goal but the evening ended in disappointment for the visitors as they were forced to settle for a draw. The result leaves them four points adrift of Liga leaders Barcelona.

Atlético 3-0 Valencia (Griezmann 10 83, Gameiro 48)
Antoine Griezmann scored twice to reach 20 goals this term – a tally he has reached in each of his three seasons with Atlético – as his side returned to winning ways in Spain. Diego Simeone's men, in fourth, remain a point ahead of Real Sociedad.

Leverkusen have now lost five of their last seven outings in all competitions; Kevin Volland's goal was just his second in the league this season. Beaten for the 11th time in the Bundesliga this term, the Werkself dismissed coach Roger Schmidt on Sunday.

• MONACO (3-5) MANCHESTER CITY
Monaco 4-0 Nantes (Mbappé 4 45+1, Germain 43, Fabinho 59pen)
Leonardo Jardim's men hit four goals for the second time this week to restore their three-point cushion in Ligue 1. Leading the way, 18-year-old forward Kylian Mbappé registered twice to take his tally to nine goals in nine games in all competitions.

Sunderland 0-2 Manchester City (Agüero 42, Sané 59)
Leroy Sané inspired City back into third place in the Premier League as Sergio Agüero notched his fifth goal in his last three games for Josep Guardiola's men.
