Real Madrid's 2-1 win against Getafe on Saturday was particularly special for Zinédine Zidane, who was celebrating his 100th game in charge of the club. Just 18 months into the job, the former midfield maestro has exceeded all expectations, lifting seven trophies, including historic back-to-back UEFA Champions League titles. We take a look at some of the facts and figures behind the Frenchman's century.

Zidane's 100 games
Wins: 75
Draws: 17
Defeats: 8

While his 75% win ratio is slightly inferior to that enjoyed by Carlo Ancelotti (78%) and José Mourinho (77%), Zidane's haul of seven major trophies (two Champions Leagues, two UEFA Super Cups, a FIFA Club World Cup, a Liga and a Spanish Super Cup) far exceeds the achievements of two of football's most-decorated coaches in their first 100 games at the Bernabéu.

Highlights of Madrid's 2017 Champions League win

Madrid set a new Spanish record as they went 40 consecutive games without defeat – from April 2016 to January 2017 – under Zidane, whose longest winning streak lasted eight matches; he has experienced back-to-back defeats just once, in January this year. He is, meanwhile, also the first ever Madrid boss to be unbeaten in his first two visits to the Camp Nou home of rivals Barcelona.

The Merengues netted in 73 consecutive outings before drawing a blank against Real Betis last month. Cristiano Ronaldo – who else? – is the top scorer of the Zidane era with 74 goals, with Karim Benzema second having struck 33 times for his compatriot (both scored against Getafe). Indeed, Zidane's team have never failed to score away in the Spanish Liga, with Madrid now having found the back of the net in 34 consecutive league games on the road. Just for good measure, victory against Getafe was Madrid's 13th consecutive league away win – a new record.

Watch Zidane's maiden Champions League triumph

Toni Kroos's 82 appearances make him the most-used player, with a total of 34 different players representing the club during the 100 games.

Zidane has come up against Atlético boss Diego Simeone on six occasions – the most he has faced any coach – winning three, drawing once and losing twice.

With the FIFA Club World Cup still to come in December and Madrid firmly in the Liga and Copa del Rey mix, not to mention looking determined to secure a record hat-trick of Champions League titles, Zidane will be hoping his next century of games are as successful as the first.
