The big five: what to watch

•  Last 16 in sight
  

Manchester United, Basel, Paris, Bayern, Chelsea, Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester City, Beşiktaş, Tottenham and Real Madrid all go into the games knowing the right results could seal round of 16 slots with two games to go. However, an early exit could beckon for CSKA, Benfica, Celtic, Anderlecht, Qarabağ, Sporting, Olympiacos, Maribor, Anderlecht, Dortmund or APOEL.

• Reversal of fortunes?
  

The matches are the reverse of matchday three and the likes of Sevilla (beaten 5-1 at Spartak), Monaco (defeated 2-1 at home by Beşiktaş) and Maribor (who went down 7-0 to Liverpool) are all hoping that a lot can change in two weeks.

•  Wembley 'final'
  

After their 1-1 draw last time out, Tottenham and Madrid meet at Wembley knowing that with a mutual six-point cushion of Dortmund and APOEL in Group H, victory for either side would all but seal first place. The match sold out at the start of October and the game provides a fresh showdown between this season's five-goal top scorers Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo.

• Perfect storm
  

Both Manchester sides, Paris, Barcelona and Beşiktaş maintained their perfect starts last time out. With the Manchester pair joined by Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool in at least joint leading their groups, England has every chance of being the first nation to have five teams in the round of 16.

• Goals continue to flow
  

The tally of 156 goals scored so far in the 48 group games means we are on course to beat the record of 292, set in 1999/2000. Make sure you tune in on time, too: 29 of the goals have been scored in the opening quarter-hour of games, more than any other 15-minute segment.
