Dr Franz Böhmert will remain in his role as chairman of Werder Bremen's supervisory board for another four years.

'Proud'
The 70-year-old received the vast majority of votes at yesterday's general meeting. "The members turned out in numbers today and that makes me even more proud," said Böhmert. The supervisory board watches over the board of directors and can block decisions if and where it sees fit.

Successful reign
Böhmert was Bremen's president for virtually three decades from 1970-99 and took over as chairman of the supervisory board following changes to the structure of the club in 1999. In his time at the Weserstadion, Bremen have lifted three Bundesliga titles, three German Cups and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup.
