Van Nistelrooij out for six weeks

Manchester United FC striker Ruud van Nistelrooij will be out of action for up to six weeks with an achilles injury.

An MRI scan has revealed that Manchester United FC striker Ruud van Nistelrooij will be out of action for between four and six weeks with an injured achilles, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said on Saturday night.

Surgery worry
"The scan shows that what was a calf injury is now an achilles injury and he will have to undergo rehabilitation," Sir Alex said after watching his side overcome Crystal Palace FC 5-2 to regain fourth place in the Premiership. "He will be out for four to six weeks but what we don't want is for him to have surgery."

Missed matches
The Dutch international forward, who has 12 goals this season, has missed the English side's last five matches. The UEFA Champions League contenders, who were paired with Italian champions AC Milan in Friday's draw for the first knockout round, are also without French international forward Louis Saha due to a knee injury, while Ole Gunnar Solskjær is a long-term absentee.
