Contract extended
Schneider, who joined Leverkusen from Eintracht Frankfurt in 1999, put pen to paper on the deal today after having negotiated the details with club officials in the last few days. The new contract will replace an old one which was due to expire in the summer.

Important player
"I feel very much at home here in Leverkusen and I want to achieve things with Bayer in the next four years," said the 31-year-old, who helped Leverkusen reach the UEFA Champions League final in 2001/02. Sporting director Rudi Völler added: "Bernd is an important player for the future of the club."
