The 32-year-old striker Sá Pinto will sign a one-year contract extension with losing UEFA Cup finalists Sporting Clube de Portugal after agreeing new terms with the club.
Sá Pinto said: "The deal will be sealed very shortly - there is only a bit of paperwork to do. It was the will of both parties and I am very happy to stay here." Sá Pinto joined in 2000 from Spanish side Real Sociedad de Fútbol and has scored 12 goals in his time in Lisbon.
Meanwhile, former Portuguese international Rui Jorge is leaving the club having not been offered a new contract. He said: "I thought at a certain time that I could stay at Sporting but now it is obvious I will not. I will continue my career but I am very upset because I only found out through the newspapers."
