Font fixes Villarreal future

UEFA Champions League contenders Villarreal CF have awarded midfield player Héctor Font a new four-year deal.
Spanish UEFA Champions League contenders Villarreal CF have awarded promising midfield player Héctor Font a new four-year deal.

Impressive season
The Primera División club have been impressed with the 20-year-old since he returned from a loan spell at CF Cuidad de Murcia last season. Coach Manuel Luis Pellegrini handed the player 33 outings during the last campaign, during which Font scored twice, as Villarreal finished third to earn a place in the third qualifying round of the Champions League.

Spanish success
Font is also a regular with Spain's Under-21 side, and has been pivotal as they close in on a berth in the 2006 UEFA European Under-21 Championship play-offs. He is the latest youngster to seal his future at El Madrigal, following the signings of Argentinian goalkeeper Mariano Barbosa and 18-year-old Ecuadorean midfielder Luis Antonio Valencia earlier this week.
