Brugge make Dufer signing

Belgian champions Club Brugge KV have signed Grégory Dufer for an undisclosed fee from French club SM Caen.

'Not too expensive'
The 23-year-old Belgian international midfielder passed a medical this afternoon, after which he put pen to paper on a four-year contract until June 2009. "Dufer is a player with a lot of talent. He had a difficult season in France, but we have kept on watching him. In the past he has been too expensive for us, but not any more," Brugge technical manager Marc Degryse said.

Goalscoring threat
Injuries limited Dufer's impact at Caen, who were demoted from France's Ligue 1 in the season just ended. However, he is a goalscoring midfielder who found the target 21 times for R. Charleroi SC between 1999 and 2004, and his new side will enter the UEFA Champions League in the third qualifying round.
