Ceulemans answers Brugge call

The former Belgium captain Jan Ceulemans has been appointed coach of his former team, Club Brugge KV.

Undisclosed fee
Ceulemans arrives from KVC Westerlo, where he was under contract and with whom Club Brugge have agreed an undisclosed fee for the 48-year-old's services.

Glittering career
The new man is a familiar face at the Jan Breydelstadion, having played for Brugge from 1978-92. In that time he won three league championships and two Belgian Cups, as well as being voted Belgian Player of the Year in 1981, 1985 and 1986.

National service
Ceulemans is his country's most-capped player with 96 appearances and 23 goals. He was in the Belgium team that finished second at the 1980 UEFA European Championship, and fourth at the 1986 FIFA World Cup.

Coaching success
He began coaching at KSC Eendracht Aalst in 1992, going on to take charge of OMS Ingelmunster and then, in 1999, Westerlo where he won the Belgian Cup in 2001.
