Everton complete Krøldrup coup

Danish international centre-back Per Krøldrup has signed for Everton FC in a €6.8m transfer from Udinese Calcio.

Champions League qualifier
The 25-year-old centre-back has put pen to paper on a four-year contract after completing a medical in Liverpool today. Krøldrup leaves one team on the brink of the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round for another, with Everton and Udinese having finished fourth in their respective English and Italian leagues.

Gravesen effect
He said that his Denmark team-mate Thomas Gravesen, the former Everton midfielder now with Real Madrid CF, had helped convince him to move to Goodison Park. "Tommy was a big influence because he had five very good years here. I have spoken to him in the last week and he only had positive things to say about [manager] David [Moyes]. That was a big help in making a decision like this."

International pedigree
Krøldrup spent four seasons with Udinese after leaving his first club B 93 København in 2001, and made 91 Serie A appearances in all. He has 13 Denmark caps, his latest appearance coming in this month's FIFA World Cup qualifier against Albania.
