Simon Cziommer has returned to FC Schalke 04 in time to join their UEFA Champions League squad.

Dutch success
The 24-year-old midfielder has spent the past 18 months on loan in the Netherlands with FC Twente, the club Schalke signed him from in the summer of 2003, and even captained the Eredivisie side. Now he hopes to impress Schalke coach Ralf Rangnick during the final year of his contract in Gelsenkirchen.

Staying put
Schalke have said they are willing to sell Cziommer, or loan him out for another season, but have yet to receive an adequate offer. "He will train with us in the pre-season campaign and we will regard him as a regular part of our squad," Schalke media officer Thomas Spiegel told uefa.com.
