The 19-year-old's original deal was due to expire in 2008 but the Belgian league runners-up have managed to tie the player to improved terms until 2010. Kompany is already a fixture for his country despite only breaking into the Anderlecht side during the 2003/04 season.
Three awards
In May, the all-conquering Kompany, who joined Anderlecht at the age of six, won a hat-trick of prizes at the end-of-season awards in Belgium. He was voted Player of the Year by his fellow professionals, while also winning the young player and fans' awards.
High hopes
Anderlecht will enter the 2005/06 UEFA Champions League in the second qualifying round with Kompany hoping to help the team reach the group stage. It was in this competition that the teenager made his senior debut in July 2003, in a second qualifying round tie against AFC Rapid Bucuresti.
