Aboucherouane earns Lille loan

LOSC Lille Métropole have signed Moroccan international left-winger Hicham Aboucherouane on loan for one year.

UEFA Champions League contenders LOSC Lille Métropole have signed Moroccan left-winger Hicham Aboucherouane on loan from Raja Club Athletic de Casablanca for one year, with the option for a further 12 months.

Varied weapons
The 24-year-old left-winger was second in his national league's goalscorer ranking last season, but said: "I can score but crosses and runs down the left side are also my weapons." Capped nine times, he was named best player of Africa's CAF Champions League 2002, in which his club reached the final. However, a move to Europe with Southampton FC a year later was scuppered after he failed to obtain a work permit.

Champions League campaign
Aboucherouane, Lille's third summer signing after Daniel Gygax and Stephan Lichtsteiner, added: "I am looking forward to the prestigious Champions League." The 2004/05 Ligue 1 runners-up start that tournament in the group stage.
