Leonardo drawn to Shakhtar

Brazilian Under-20 international Leonardo has left Santos FC to sign a five-year contract with FC Shakhtar Donetsk.
Brazilian teenager Leonardo has left Santos FC to sign a five-year contract with UEFA Champions League hopefuls FC Shakhtar Donetsk.

Youth pedigree
The Ukrainian Premier League title-holders have bought the 19-year-old defender, who won the FIFA U-17 World Championship with Brazil in 2003 and was a bronze medallist with the Under-20 side two years later, for a fee thought to be in the region of €1.5m.

Tough group
Shakhtar will enter the Champions League in the third qualifying round, hoping to improve on last season when they were eliminated from the group stage having been drawn in a tough section with FC Barcelona, AC Milan and Celtic FC.
