Internazionale FC have signed S.S. Lazio striker Hernán Crespo as a replacement for Ronaldo.
The Serie A club, who confirmed Ronaldo's departure for Real Madrid CF for an estimated €45m late on Saturday evening, have registered Crespo with the Lega Calcio as their player although it is not certain whether he has yet signed a contract at the San Siro.
The player's agent, Fernando Hidalgo, said this afternoon that the deal was close to completion, with Crespo talking to Internazionale regarding personal terms.
Hidalgo had earlier said the transfer was off, but Inter moved quickly to turn around the situation. A fee of €20m, plus striker Bernardo Corradi, has reportedly been agreed between the clubs - although that was not confirmed by either.
Because Crespo was registered as an Inter player before the midnight transfer deadline, the deal appears to be on the verge of going through and is expected to be completed tomorrow or on Monday.
