Georgian international Levan Kobiashvili has signed a contract extension with German UEFA Champions League contenders FC Schalke 04, keeping him in Gelsenkirchen until the summer of 2010.

'Now for the Bundesliga'
Kobiashvili was entering the final year of the contract he accepted when joining Schalke from SC Freiburg in 2003. "We have a top team and I want to win the Bundesliga," declared the 28-year-old after putting pen to paper on the deal. The former FC Dinamo Tbilisi player has made 63 league appearances for Schalke, scoring three goals. "Levan is definitely one of the best signings we have made in the last decade," said Schalke general manager Rudi Assauer.
