Adriano puts down roots at Inter

Brazilian striker Adriano has committed himself to FC Internazionale Milano until 2010 after signing a two-year contract extension.

Brazilian striker Adriano has signed a two-year extension to his contract with FC Internazionale Milano committing himself to the Nerazzurri until 2010.

'Lifetime choice'
"I thank the club for putting their faith in me," he said after penning the new contract. "[Signing for Inter] was a lifetime choice, Inter is my home." This season he has scored one goal for the club in UEFA Champions League third qualifying round against Shakhtar Donetsk FC.

Loan spell
The 23-year-old Brazilian international joined Inter for €5m from CR Flamengo in 2001. After one goal in eight substitute appearances, he was loaned to ACF Fiorentina where he scored six times in 15 outings. Another loan spell followed, at Parma FC, before the striker returned to the San Siro stadium in January 2004.

Successful season
He started last season by scoring three times over two legs as Inter defeated FC Basel 1893 to reach the Champions League group stage. He went on to score seven times in as many games in the competition, including a hat-trick to eliminate holders FC Porto in the first knockout round. In Serie A he scored 16 goals as Inter finished third.
