Article body
World Cup berth
The 24-year-old was substituted 31 minutes into Switzerland's 4-2 loss in Turkey on Wednesday, and was watching from the bench as his side booked a place in the FIFA World Cup finals on the away-goals rule. His replacement, Marco Streller, scored the goal which effectively sealed Switzerland's spot in Germany.
Scans
Gygax needs to undergo further scans to determine the full extent of the injury, although it seems he will miss the Matchday 5 visit of the Portuguese champions to the Stade de France. Lille, who are also likely to be without Peter Odemwingie (ankle) and long-term injury victim Stéphane Dumont (knee), are second in Group D after four rounds of matches.
