Long-term problem
The 24-year-old, who is No2 keeper at the Jan Breydelstadion, has been troubled by the problem for some time but had to delay surgery until third choice Glenn Verbauwhede recovered from injury.

Starring role
Stijnen boosted his reputation as he performed brilliantly in his side's 2-1 UEFA Champions League home defeat by Juventus in September. Club Brugge will continue their European campaign in the UEFA Cup after securing third place in Group A.
