Double boost for Bayern

Brazilian defender Lucio has extended his contract with FC Bayern München, who have also tied up a €2m deal for Paraguayan international Julio dos Santos.

FC Bayern München have secured the services of Paraguayan international midfielder Julio dos Santos from Club Cerro Porteño for €2m after the 23-year-old passed a medical this afternoon. He has agreed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the club and will join Felix Magath's squad in time for their winter training camp in Dubai, which begins on 6 January.

'Very happy'
Meanwhile, Brazilian international Lucio, the centre-half who has been at the club for 18 months, has put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at the Fußball Arena München until 2010. "I am very happy that we came to an agreement so early," said the 27-year-old, whose contract was not due to expire until 2007. "Bayern are a big club and my family and I feel very happy in Munich. It is a big wish of mine to celebrate major successes with this team in the coming years."
