Reds reward Dudek

Poland goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek has signed a one-year extension to his contract at Liverpool FC.

Polish international goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek has signed a one-year extension to his contract at Liverpool FC that will keep him at the English Premiership club until 2006.

Feyenoord move
Dudek joined Liverpool in August 2001 in a €7.9m move from Feyenoord, just hours before that season's UEFA Champions League deadline, having joined the Dutch club five years previously after just 15 league appearances for Polish first division outfit GKS Tychy.

Successful season
He helped the Merseysiders to second place in the Premiership and the quarter-finals of the Champions League in his first season. Liverpool manager Gérard Houllier said: "We have always said that this club will reward people who do well for us. Jerzy has played a big part in our success. He kept 29 clean sheets last season and is an important part of our team."

Spartak win
Dudek has played in all three of Liverpool's Champions League games this season, including the 5-0 win against FC Spartak Moskva on Matchday 3. Liverpool travel to Moscow for the return on Tuesday.
