The deal was announced in the wake of Villarreal's UEFA Champions League semi-final defeat at Arsenal FC, in which Tacchinardi collected a yellow card which rules him out of the second leg. The 30-year-old has otherwise enjoyed an impressive debut campaign in Spanish football, making 20 Primera División appearances and playing eight times in Villarreal's run to the last four of the UEFA Champions League.
"Having played here, I can say that football is more beautiful in La Liga than in Serie A. I might not have many years left in the game, but I would like them to be in Spain," Tacchinardi said. He previously spent eleven years with Juventus, having first emerged at Atalanta BC.
