UEFA Champions League winner Oleguer Presas has renewed his contract with hometown club FC Barcelona until 2010.

Regular performer
Having made his breakthrough back in the 2002/03 season, the reliable 26-year-old has been a regular over the past two seasons, playing 69 times as Barça won successive Spanish titles. Oleguer, whose previous deal had been due to expire in June 2008, also started the UEFA Champions League final as Arsenal FC were beaten 2-1 at the Stade de France in May. His buy-out clause goes up from €30m to €60m as part of the extension.

Barcelona have been busy adding defensive strength this summer, acquiring Lilian Thuram and Gianluca Zambrotta from Juventus, and tying Rafael Márquez to a new long-term deal last month. The club have also signed Iceland attacker Eidur Gudjohnsen.
