Hearts focused from the start

Heart of Midlothian FC captain Steven Pressley has used Celtic FC's demise in last year's UEFA Champions League to warn against complacency tonight.

Heart of Midlothian FC captain Steven Pressley is warning his team-mates not to suffer the same fate as Celtic FC last season when they entertain Bosnian champions NK Široki Brijeg in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League second round qualifying tie tonight.

Artmedia memories
The Edinburgh club are vying to reach the group stages of Europe's élite tournament for the first time, but the memory of Celtic's surprising defeat by Slovakian side FC Artmedia at the same stage last year is still fresh in Pressley's mind. Naturally, he is warning Hearts not to under-estimate their opponents.

'Real test'
"We have to make sure we guard against complacency," Pressley told uefa.com. "Celtic's experience last season shows that whoever we get at this stage of qualifying will be a real test for us. The Champions League is a very special stage and it would mean so much for us to reach the group stages, but we can't look that far ahead just yet."

Osasuna victory
Hearts warmed up for their maiden UEFA Champions League campaign with an impressive 2-0 victory over Spanish contenders CA Osasuna, extending their unbeaten pre-season run to five matches. The Primera División side are among the clubs Hearts could face in the third qualifying round and while head coach Valdas Ivanauskas expects Široki Brijeg to provide a tougher test, he is cautiously optimistic that Hearts can score enough goals to make the return leg in Mostar a formality.

Early onslaught
"Our scout watched both games against [FC] Shaktyor Soligorsk and Široki Brijeg were definitely the better of the two teams," said Ivanauskas. "In terms of quality Osasuna are better equipped but Wednesday's game will be more competitive and we know they will make it hard for us. However, we are at home first and it would be nice to finish everything in the first game."

Different ball game
The match against Osasuna also served another purpose as it allowed the Hearts players to familiarise themselves with Murrayfield stadium, where they will play their European fixtures this season. As their own pitch at Tynecastle does not meet UEFA requirements, Hearts have opted to use nearby Murrayfield and while it will not be full to its 67,500 capacity, 20,000 tickets have already been sold and Pressley is looking forward to reacquainting himself with the home of Scottish rugby.

'Great atmosphere'
"We played our UEFA Cup campaign there two seasons ago but there aren't too many of us left from that side, so the Osasuna game was ideal preparation from that point of view," he said. "Those games [against Feyenoord, FC Basel 1893 and FC Schalke 04] were good nights at Murrayfield. The fans generated a great atmosphere and hopefully they can do the same again."
