Forward Alberto Gilardino has added one year to his contract with UEFA Champions League contenders AC Milan, committing himself to the Rossoneri until June 2011.

World champion
The 24-year-old joined Milan from Parma FC ahead of the 2005/06 season and scored 17 goals in 34 Serie A games during his first campaign with the Rossoneri. This term Gilardino, a FIFA World Cup winner with Italy in the summer, has yet to find the net in any competition but Milan have given him a timely confidence boost on a day he learned he had been omitted from the Italy national squad.
