Roberto Carlos has signed a one year extension to his contract at Real Madrid CF while team-mate Guti has been handed a further two years.

New contract
Roberto Carlos's contract was due to expire at the end of the current campaign but the 33-year-old former Brazilian international has agreed a one-year extension which could see him complete a 12th season at the Santiago Bernabéu following his arrival from FC Internazionale Milano in 1996. The left-back has won three UEFA Champions League titles, a UEFA Super Cup and three Spanish league titles.

Club happy
Spanish midfielder Guti's contract was due to expire in 2008 but the 30-year-old has now signed on until 2010, having started his career in the club's youth team. "The club is very pleased, first because they will be staying and secondly because they are playing very well and that's good for everyone," said sporting director Predrag Mijatović.
