FC Internazionale Milano are mourning the death of former Italy forward Benito Lorenzi, who played at the 1954 FIFA World Cup, at the age of 81.

FC Internazionale Milano are mourning the death of former Italy forward Benito Lorenzi at the age of 81 following a long illness.

Loyal servant
After joining the club from Empoli FC in 1947, Lorenzi, nicknamed Veleno - 'Poison' - spent eleven seasons with the Nerazzurri, scoring 143 goals in 314 Serie A games. With Inter, he won the Scudetto in 1953 and 1954 and was also capped 14 times by his country, scoring four goals. Lorenzi was part of the Azzurri squad at the 1954 FIFA World Cup in Switzerland.
