Madrid pair facing four weeks out

Real Madrid CF will be without David Beckham and José Antonio Reyes for a month after both players sustained knee ligament injuries against Getafe CF.

Real Madrid CF will be without David Beckham and José Antonio Reyes for the next month after both sustained knee injuries in Sunday's Primera División draw with Getafe CF.

Ligament sprains
Beckham and Reyes had to be replaced during the 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabéu and scans on the midfielders on Monday afternoon revealed the full extent of their injuries.

Expected absences
The 31-year-old Englishman has sprained a ligament in his right knee and will be sidelined for four weeks, missing the UEFA Champions League first knockout round decider at FC Bayern München on Wednesday. Reyes, 23, is expected to be out for three to four weeks having jarred left knee ligaments in a collision with Getafe goalkeeper Roberto Abbondanzieri. There was some good news for Madrid coach Fabio Capello, however, as Raúl González and Emerson have recovered from calf problems while Gonzalo Higuaín and Ruud van Nistelrooy are available despite bruising thigh muscles against Getafe.
