Larsson marvels at Ronaldo

Henrik Larsson tells uefa.com he has no regrets about returning to Sweden despite seeing his former team Manchester United FC hit top gear against AS Roma.

Henrik Larsson believes Cristiano Ronaldo is probably "the best player around at the moment" after watching his former Manchester United FC team-mate lead the rout of AS Roma in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League last week.

'The best'
Ronaldo scored twice in the 7-1 victory at Old Trafford which left Larsson singing the praises of the Portugal winger. "It is very hard to select the best footballer in the world. There is so much difference between a defender and a striker, but Ronaldo is definitely one of the best," Larsson told uefa.com. "In his position he is the best and he is probably the best player around at the moment. It was a great performance. I don't think anybody thought it would be 7-1. It was a great game."

Happy to be home
Larsson returned to his Swedish side Helsingborgs IF in March following a three-month loan spell at United and admits that, despite losing to Halmstads BK in the opening week of the season, it is great to be home. "I'm enjoying the football back in Sweden and Helsingborg have a lot of potential. We had a poor start last year so we're just trying to get off to a better start this time round. There are a number of good sides and we're one of them, and we'd love to bring some prizes back to Helsingborg. I love being back home with my friends and family. This perhaps will be my last season, I'll have to wait and see what happens."

Celtic memories
As Larsson bids to end his career on a high, the former Swedish international concedes one club in particular hold a special place in his heart. "Celtic [FC], it is where I made my name and it is the club I was at for seven years." Larsson scored a staggering 175 league goals in 221 games in Scotland, and says his only regret as he looks back on seven successful campaigns was the UEFA Cup final defeat by FC Porto in Seville in 2003.

'Green and white'
"The support was fantastic, the stadium was full of Celtic shirts. I had some friends in the city on the day and everywhere was green and white. It was just a shame we lost. I don't feel I had anything to prove when I left Scotland. I had played against the best defenders in [FIFA] World Cups and [UEFA] European Championships. People don't give Scottish football enough credit. The only way to get credit is for Scottish teams to do well in Europe." Larsson would go on to greater glory in Europe, winning the UEFA Champions League with FC Barcelona last May. His loyalties, though, lie firmly in England this time round. "I hope Manchester United win of course," he said.

Henrik Larsson was speaking in uefa.com's chatroom, where Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs will be on hand to answer your questions on Thursday. To read the transcript of Larsson's chat in full, click here.
