Five days before the UEFA Champions League final against Liverpool FC, Italy defender Alessandro Nesta has committed himself to AC Milan until 2011.
Fit again
The 31-year-old missed the first half of the season with a serious shoulder injury but has returned to fitness and form to help Milan reach the Athens showpiece on Wednesday. Nesta, who has played 14 games in Serie A this season and seven in the UEFA Champions League, joined Milan in August 2002 for €30.2m from S.S. Lazio. He went on to help the Rossoneri win the UEFA Champions League in his first season, scoring a penalty in the final shoot-out win against Juventus. The centre-back's existing deal had been due to expire at the end of next season.
