Webster extends Rangers loan

Defender Andy Webster will be hoping for better fortune next season after extending his loan deal at Rangers FC from Wigan Athletic FC until January 2008.

Injury problems
The 25-year-old, who hasn't played for Rangers since sustaining an injury in his first training session with the club following his transfer from Wigan last January, is currently at the centre of an appeal over world governing body FIFA's decision to order the Scotland international to pay former club Heart of Midlothian FC €925,000. The defender had left for Wigan after invoking a new ruling to cancel the final year of his contract at Hearts. Rangers begin next season's UEFA Champions League campaign at the second qualifying round stage.
