Moldovan champions FC Sheriff have strengthened their squad ahead of their UEFA Champions League first qualifying round tie against FC Rànger's after signing Romanian midfielder George Daniel Negrut.
The 20-year-old joins from CSM Râmnicu Vâlcea, where he had been playing for the reserves in Romania's fourth tier following a disagreement with the club. He thrived for the second string, however, finishing the season as top scorer and having begun his career at AFC Rapid Bucuresti, now joins Sheriff a fortnight before they start their UEFA Champions League qualifying campaign at home to Andorran debutants Rànger's. The winners will face Turkish giants Beşiktaş JK in the second qualifying round.
