Montenegrin international forward Milan Purović has joined Lisbon giants Sporting Clube de Portugal from Serbia's FK Crvena Zvezda.
Belgrade doubles
The 22-year-old has agreed a five-year contract after Sporting paid an undisclosed fee to the Belgrade side. "I am very happy to sign for Sporting," he said. "It is a big club and ideal for me as my main goal is to develop and Sporting give young players a chance." Capped three times for Montenegro, Purović joined Crvena Zvezda from FK Budućnost Podgorica in 2005 and scored 17 league goals in 46 appearances as the capital club won back-to-back league and cup doubles in his two seasons.
Team-mates reunited
He joins a raft of new signings at Sporting, including Derlei, Marat Izmailov, Gladstone and his former Serbia and Montenegro Under-21 team-mates Vladimir Stojković and Simon Vukčević. The three players were part of the Serbia and Montenegro side that travelled to the 2006 UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Portugal, with Purović missing from the spot in their penalty shoot-out defeat by Ukraine in the semi-finals. Liga runners-up Sporting will play in the UEFA Champions League group stage while Crvena Zvezda start their campaign in the second qualifying round.
