FC Porto have signed Argentinian winger Mariano González on a one-season loan from US Città di Palermo with an option to sign him permanently next summer.
The 26-year-old spent last season on loan at FC Internazionale Milano, appearing three times in the UEFA Champions League and 14 times in Serie A as the Nerazzurri won the Scudetto. He had previously played 51 games for Palermo, scoring four goals since joining from Argentinian side Racing Club de Avellaneda ahead of the 2004/05 campaign. González is Porto's eighth summer signing after Nuno, Lino, Fernando, Przemysław Kaźmierczak, Edgar, Luís Aguiar and Mario Bolatti. Porto will play in the UEFA Champions League group stage as Portuguese title winners. Palermo kick off their UEFA Cup campaign in the first round.
