Chelsea hit by triple injury blow

Chelsea FC face starting the new English Premier League campaign without Didier Drogba, John Terry and Claude Makelele after all three collected injuries.

Chelsea FC have been struck by a triple injury blow just a week before the start of the new English Premier League season with Didier Drogba, John Terry and Claude Makelele all sidelined.

Trio out
England captain John Terry and French international midfielder Makelele both pulled out of training on Saturday with defender Terry potentially out for a month with knee ligament damage. Both players missed the FA Community Shield at Wembley against Manchester United FC on Sunday, as did Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou, Michael Ballack, Arjen Robben and Andriy Shevchenko. Terry, 26, is a serious doubt for England's friendly against Germany on 22 August and the UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifiers against Israel and Russia next month.
