Olympique de Marseille goalkeeper Cédric Carrasso will be sidelined for six months after sustaining an achilles injury in training.
Awkward fall
The 25-year-old, who had featured in Marseille's first four Ligue 1 games of the season, fell awkwardly after jumping to catch a ball and damaged his left achilles tendon. He faces a long period of rehabilitation. "He will have surgery either at the end of this week or early next week," the club said.
Mandanda chance
A Marseille academy graduate, Carrasso will miss the whole of OM's UEFA Champions League group stage campaign, beginning on 18/19 September. French Under-21 international Steve Mandanda is likely to start Saturday's match at SM Caen. The 22-year-old moved to Marseille on loan from Le Havre AC this summer.
