Arsenal FC manager Arsène Wenger is celebrating a minor coup after completing a move to sign Lassana Diarra from rivals Chelsea FC for an undisclosed fee.

Arsenal FC manager Arsène Wenger was left to celebrate a minor coup after completing a move to sign Lassana Diarra from Chelsea FC just before the transfer deadline for an undisclosed fee.

Exciting prospect
The 22-year-old France international joins the Gunners on what the club describes as a "long-term" contract, and Wenger is predicting that he will have a big impact in north London. "Lassana is a multi-functional player, making him a great addition to our squad," he said. "Not only is he hard working, he has a creative edge and is comfortable playing in the middle of the pitch or at right-back." Diarra was limited to 13 league appearances in two seasons at Chelsea after moving there from Le Harve AC and is relishing the new challenge, saying: "I am excited by what the future holds and keen to play my part in helping Arsenal fight for trophies."
