Sporting Clube de Portugal have been hit by the news that they will be without Pedro Silva for at least six months after the defender underwent surgery on his left knee.
Training injury
The 25-year-old Brazilian full-back picked up the injury during training eight days ago and the Lisbon giants' medical department decided an operation was required. The summer signing, who has yet to make a competitive appearance for his new club, will miss the whole of the UEFA Champions League group stage when Sporting take on AS Roma, Manchester United FC and FC Dynamo Kyiv in Group F.
